On a beautiful Saturday in March, I crossed the Bay Bridge into Berkeley for the gorgeous wedding of Meredith + Chris. This was my first California wedding as a “local” but appropriately, the majority of the guest list was from the South. Don’t get me wrong, Californians are awesome and I’m striving to be one myself, but having some sweet Southern traditions thrown in throughout the day made this wedding extra special!! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the venue – The Berkeley City Club is one of the prettiest buildings I have ever set foot in! Designed by Julia Morgan, the first female architect licensed in California and the mind behind the Hearst Castle, the building is filled with stone detailing, arched windows and absolutely stunning gardens… I had so many choices for photo locations! Both Meredith + Chris were surrounded by loved ones all day and the shared joy was palpable in the air. So many people traveled near and far to witness the joining of these two wonderful souls, officiated by the bride’s father in the lovely Christ Church Berkeley, followed by an evening to remember at the Berkeley City Club. To Meredith + Chris – Congratulations, newlyweds! I hope you are enjoying your fabulous Panama honeymoon and cherish these memories for a lifetime!
Meredith designed her own wedding shoes! Love them!
One of Meredith’s house party members, Jess, is also a wedding photographer and I adore her for pointing out this rooftop area! The access was tucked deep inside the building and I would have never known it was there!
Meredith, you gorgeous girl!
Pat Gibbons did an incredible job on all of the florals! Just perfection!

Meanwhile, Chris and the guys had a fun time getting ready themselves, although the struggle to tie a bow tie was REAL, and required a little help from Google.
Time for the ceremony!
When we were walking back to join the group, I asked Meredith + Chris to walk together for a few portraits and noticed this white VW van in the frame of my camera. Well, you don’t get more Berkeley than that! Of course we had to include it in their portraits!
Although the sun had set by the time we arrived back to the Berkeley City Club, I just had to grab a few portraits in the beautiful courtyard. And as it turns out, I just love the way the windows look all “glowy” with warm light in the background! SO pretty!
One of the details I was most looking forward to about this wedding was the reception decor! Meredith + Chris included many wonderful, personal details to their decor, including using a cookbook as their guestbook and food elements in their centerpieces (as a tribute to Meredith’s PhD work at Berkeley.) I have to say while I’ve never seen artichokes and asparagus as wedding decor, I absolutely loved it!!
Congratulations again to the Bride + Groom!
