While usually Andie and I discuss important topics like Michael Buble hypothetically performing at your wedding, when she asked me to photograph this special milestone for her incredible parents, I was honored beyond belief. My work typically celebrates the beginning of a lifetime commitment, so you can imagine how excited I was to document decades of love and family, all amplified by the fact that they are dear, sweet friends of mine. Exactly 35 years to the day, in the same, sunny location in San Diego, Karen + Mark re-pledged their love in front of family and friends, only this time, they had no idea what to expect. Amidst a weekend of amazing festivities and other fun gatherings, we hopped on a trolley and headed for The Prado at Balboa Park for a day filled with memories of vows past and new, sometimes hilarious, updated promises for the future (Think: vowing to share your favorite dessert.) The details of the ceremony were shrouded in mystery and kept under wraps until the big day arrived, all planned by Karen + Mark’s children and grandsons. As each person took the microphone and expressed their love and appreciation, it was absolutely clear how special these two are to so many people. Cheers to a fabulous weekend spent celebrating an amazing couple!! Love you guys!!
Each of Karen’s 3 grandsons held a portion of her bouquet to hand to her as she walked down the aisle. And when they came together they made a heart. #melt
