They met in class at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Katya, from Ukraine by way of Hollywood, and Charles, from Marin. Life had brought them both to UCSB, to this legal writing class, and soon enough, they were partnered together on a paper. As they got to know one another, they found themselves talking about anything but the project at hand: philosophy, politics, art… slowly realizing all that they shared in common. And so began their love story. After graduation, they moved to San Francisco to pursue their careers and dreams alongside one another. They spent their free time hiking, cooking, traveling – all shared individual interests, now with a partner by their side. When the time came to propose, Charles brought Katya back to their beginnings, to campus, to Isla Vista, to their special places, and finally, to the cliffs of Campus Point, overlooking the bluffs and the Pacific Ocean, where he asked Katya to share the rest of their lives together. So it was only fitting that we joined Katya and Charles at the Monterey Plaza Hotel, perched on the side of the coast, overlooking the water and surrounded by family and friends, as they pledged their commitment and promised one another forever. To the newlyweds, thank you for sharing your day and entrusting me with these special memories. I wish you a beautiful lifetime together!
