A 99% match. That’s what the online dating site listed as Lindsay’s compatibility with Joseph. A number so close to perfect, that she couldn’t help but send him a message. A casual first date was planned at Pinkberry, but four and a half HOURS later, it was clear that this wasn’t just your average first date. It was a 99%-compatibility-first-date! And from there began the love story of Lindsay + Joseph; a story where every month on their anniversary, Joseph would give Lindsay the corresponding amount of flowers; a story where on their 34th month anniversary, he planned a special picnic for Lindsay where he surprised her with not only a bouquet of 34 roses, but a proposal, and the promise of flowers forever. For their engagement photos, we debated a number of locations that were special to them as a couple, but in the end, we chose Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel, a favorite of theirs for hiking. With its rocky coastlines of crashing turquoise waves, forests filled with wildflowers and quiet coves of tide pools, it was the perfect place to photograph this awesome, adventurous couple. I’m not kidding – Lindsay and Joseph literally stop to smell the roses and never miss a detail. Lindsay is an outdoor guide and the BEST hiking partner, as she pointed out so many little things that I would have missed if on my own: sea anemones, wildflowers, a peaceful, grass-nibbling deer. I’ve spent a lot of time with this sweet couple and yes, they are exactly as happy as they appear in these photos. This was basically a normal afternoon for them, with the exception of the photographer following them around 😉 Lessons learned from the day: I highly recommend checking out this gorgeous spot on the California coast, and also, slowing down to appreciate the little stuff and, of course, appreciating that romance is alive and well. Thanks to Lindsay and Joseph for being so amazing – Jeff and I are so incredibly excited to continue the celebration with you in July!
