I hadn’t seen Pam or Andrew since their wedding in July 2010, so when Pam contacted me this year about possibly shooting their maternity photos while we were in California, I JUMPED at the chance! I just love it when … Continue reading
Have I mentioned lately how much I adore the entire Bolster Family? Over the past year, I’ve gotten to take photos of everyone in their family in the form of head shots, styled shoots, a surprise elopement and now…. a … Continue reading
When Melissa wrote to tell me that she + Jason were expecting + that they wanted me to do their maternity photos, I was over the moon! I just love hanging out with this sweet little family! Last weekend, I met them at their resort in Fort Morgan, Alabama for this gorgeous photo session. Melissa knows exactly how to rock the camera and makes my job a breeze! We started out with a few photos of Melissa + her little bump – they have chosen to keep the baby’s gender a surprise until the birth, which I think is so much fun! All the anticipation – I can’t wait to find out myself! Enjoy this lovely session!
Then it was time for a quick outfit change + for Miss Tansley to join in on the fun! She’s gotten so big since last September, constantly chatting and still loving to eat the sand. She is such a little sweetheart and you can definitely tell how much she loves her momma!
I just love these next images of the whole family!
One of my favorite things about working with toddlers are the unexpected moments that arise throughout the shoot. I usually keep some bloopers for my clients, but these were too cute not to share.
First up, a “hug” for momma:
I was setting Melissa + Jason into the pose, when suddenly we had a photo bomb, complete with Mommy’s necklace!
“Where’s the baby?”
And my favorite… This is was happened when I posed Melissa on Jason’s lap – you can totally see Tansley’s thought process! Love it!!
Sometimes I don’t hear from my brides for years after their weddings, but every few months, I’ll get an excited call or email from an old client sharing their latest good news. So naturally, when I heard that Stef + Dan were expecting, I was ecstatic! Stef has an unmatchable style that just exudes cool. Seriously, I want to be her best friend. After helping out with little Carson’s newborn photos, we headed to the Okaloosa Island Fishing Pier for a sunset maternity session, a la Stef. We started with a vintage, “Boardwalk Empire” style shoot on the pier and finished up with some relaxed, natural shots on the beach below. Stef, it was such a treat getting to see you again – you rocked these photos!
One thing I always encourage before each session is the use of props. Whether it’s a bottle of wine to share during the session, a fun save-the-date, or a seashell we find on the beach, I love to incorporate details into my clients’ final galleries. And I’ve said it before and no doubt I will say it again + again, my clients are the coolest + always come up with the best ideas. Sometimes I don’t even know what props they will bring until we meet for photos and I am always happily surprised! If you’re feeling stumped on what to bring to your photo shoot, pinterest is FULL of ideas! Check it out today and, as always, keep an eye on this blog for the latest from Kate’s Captures Photography!
